My name is Sandra, and my hubby Scott and I are a photography team called Walker Photography. I am a work at home mom while Scott is a full-time firefighter. We are also full-time wedding photographers. We have a crazy and fun home life with two wildly spirited children that always keep us on our toes.
5 years ago we found Two Mann Studios and were in awe of their work. At the time we were family and child photographers and had never photographed a wedding. It just so happened that around the same time we were hired to photograph our first wedding, a friend of ours had asked us if we would consider photographing it for them.
Not long after we booked the wedding, Two Mann posted about their next workshop and we jumped on the chance to learn how to create magical photos like they do.
We had just had a baby so we signed Scott up for the workshop with the hopes that he could come home and teach me some of what he learned. Scott was so nervous for the workshop, and I’m pretty sure everyone thought we were crazy to send him without having ever photographed a wedding. The workshop was eye opening, mind blowing and every bit of amazing we had hoped it would be. The Mann’s opened up their world to Scott and showed us the inner workings of Two Mann. He came home with a new sense of where we needed to take our photography. We practiced and practiced everything he learned before the wedding. We photographed our first wedding and thanks to everything Scott learned, we came out with some amazing images.
After a year of Scott trying to teach me what he had learned from Lanny and Erika, it just wasn’t the same as hearing it from them, I had to be part of the Two Mann Workshop. I lucked out because a spot opened up last minute and I managed to get into a workshop.
The workshop for me was such a life changing experience. I came out of the workshop with a new perspective on photography, and a curiosity to try so many new ideas out (the tool box was such a wonderful help for me). Their workshop was not only an educational adventure, but I came out of it with such a close connection with an amazing group of people. People who were not afraid to share and teach and learn together. At the workshop they taught us to see the world in light and shadows, and to look at everything from a different perspective. But most of all they opened our eyes to the stories that can happen.
3 years ago this month we photographed our first wedding. This year, both Scott and I have been ranked in the top 15 wedding photographers in Canada with PWPC. We cannot be prouder of how far we have come and how much we have learned in the last few years (and we still have so much more we can still learn and so much more growing we can do). And I would like to say that we own so much of that to Lanny and Erika for opening their hearts and sharing their world with us.
