Beyond the stunning photography Erika and Lanny capture, it was their characters that attracted us to them. After witnessing them present at Mystic Seminars, WPPI, and a number of personal conversations we found an overwhelming sense of trust in the depth of their blunt honesty, comical perspectives, and commitment to becoming the best humans possible.
They have a courageous pursuit of excellence and a fierce awareness of anything (like egos) that might get in the way. Everything they do and share is 100% transparent. That in and of itself goes to the core of great learners and teachers. When they asked us to help host their workshop in Portland it put a light on us to become better ourselves. Their invitation felt like a magnificent opportunity to collaborate with brilliant minds and challenge us to share and grow in a pressure cooker of awesomeness.
Erika and Lanny unveiled the subtle and profound differences between being good photographers and great photographers. We learned many technical skills, visual concepts, workflow strategies, and magical post production skills that dramatically shifted our creativity. They were like The Oracle that simplified complexities into quick go-to brilliant solutions. They illuminated critical truths about “how to see” composition, light, and raw life forms that jump out of the frame and bring a real story to life. They lead us into becoming courageous in everything we do, all in the spirit of growing and spreading goodness into the world. Above all we developed friendships with everyone in the workshop and entered one of the best photography communities on the planet. We think of Lanny and Erika all the time keeping us on a great edge of learning and laughter. They are leading our industry into a new movement, and we are thrilled to be participating.
