Alana and Shawn drove over 800 km across the country to meet us for this engagement session in Canmore. It poured rain for most of our visit, but the 4 of us had no qualms about hiding out from the rain in a quant little restaurant, enjoying sangria and flavourful tapas while musing about their upcoming destination wedding in the Bahamas. Here are a few of the shots we managed despite the stormy weather (and the fact that – in a turn of somewhat comical circumstances – Lanny ended up shooting some of this by himself with both our kids literally crawling all over his back). Alana and Shawn, we are so stoked for your wedding in the Bahamas (sans kids). See you in paradise!
Well, I guess we went a little silhouette crazy with Chris and Sarah’s early morning Canmore engagement shoot. The backlight was just so gorgeous, and this couple was just so game, we just couldn’t stop photographing. Three outfit changes, 3 hours, and 3500 clicks later, we called it a wrap. We can’t wait to shoot this their wedding at Island Lake Lodge. We’re especially excited about the helicopter they’re hired to take us to some very remote and spectacular places to shoot some epic portraits and priceless moments. Stay tuned for they’re wedding, coming to a blog near you, this September.
We have so many fun pictures from Justine and Lee’s engagement session, it’s impossible to pick our favourites. We spent an evening at the VanDusen Botanical Gardens in the heart of Vancouver. Although it was our first time meeting Justine and Lee in person, it felt as thought we were hanging out with old friends. There was never a dull moment with this couple and they were an absolute joy to photograph. Beautiful smiles and a genuine kindness. We were so fortunately to have Brianna Errelat around for hair and make-up retouches throughout the session. Their wedding is taking place this August at the top of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, in Golden BC.
We met Jen and Gavin on a brisk and muddy spring day in Canmore. These guys were such great sports, even submitting to our bizarre request to go cuddle in a drainage culvert, under the highway. After a few hours of photographing and a nice dinner over a bottle of wine, we’re really looking forward to the next time we get to hang out with this insanely fun couple. Can’t wait for their wedding, in June!
If there is one photo shoot that can be described as both hot and cold, this is it! Shanna and Tim travelled all the way from Florida to spend a day in the Canadian Rockies having their engagement photos taken. They were looking for “wintery” in an effort to contrast their tropical wedding, which is taking place in Naples, Florida. Unfortunately, it was raining in Banff the day their shoot was scheduled. So, we travelled an hour west to Lake Louise, where it was a beautiful winter wonderland. We were treated to big fluffy white snowflakes and a truly fun couple, who was willing to do anything for the shot!
We had a blast photographing Hannah and Bob during their chilly morning engagement session at Prince’s Island Park in Calgary. The setting was beautiful, but Hannah’s smile stole the show! We’re so excited to be photographing their mountain wedding coming up this summer. Here are a few of our favourites from the shoot.
When we met Meagan and Gavin for their outdoor engagement session, it was -25 degrees Celsius! It didn’t take us long to start searching out a warm and cozy indoor location. We’ve been wanting to shoot at Calgary’s Hotel Arts for some time now and so were thrilled to be granted it’s use for this quick little session. We only just scratched the surface of the photographic potential in this beautiful space. Meagan and Gavin are two of the nicest people we’ve ever met, and their love for each other is undeniable. We can’t wait to photograph their winter wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge. Here are a few of our favourites from this shoot.
We’ve started our new year off with a really incredible surprise! One of our images was selected for inclusion within Junebug Wedding’s latest Best of the Best 2012 Wedding Photos Collection. Out of 7000 images from 39 countries, 50 select images were chosen to represent the best wedding photos in the world. We are so thrilled and humbled to be included within this circle of some of the worlds most telented wedding photographers.
Lanny and I are constantly trying to diversify our body of work with unique couples, unique locations and interesting perspectives. We are so excited to have had our first opportunity to shoot a same sex couple. Carla and Tina travelled all the way down from Edmonton for this early morning shoot in Canmore. These girls were so much fun to work with. We’re really looking forward to getting to know them more leading up to their wedding next June.
Amy and Evan travelled all the way down from Fort McMurray for their engagement photography session with us, in Canmore. We were blessed with amazing evening light and a gorgeous, charismatic couple to photograph. We can’t wait to photograph their wedding this August, at the Silvertip golf course.
